Leadership Series Welcomes Secretary Greg Reed to Discuss Alabama’s Workforce Future

The South Baldwin Chamber recently welcomed Secretary Greg Reed of the Alabama Department of Workforce for its latest Leadership Series luncheon, offering local business and community leaders an engaging opportunity to hear firsthand about Alabama's workforce landscape and the role our region plays in the state's continued growth.
The program was officially opened by the South Baldwin Chamber 2026 Chairman of the Board, Mark Ingram of Baldwin EMC, who led attendees in the prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Chairman Ingram then recognized the event's presenting sponsor, Vulcan, Inc., represented by Daniel Thompson, before personally welcoming Secretary Reed to the stage.
As Secretary of the newly reorganized Alabama Department of Workforce, Reed shared a forward-looking perspective on the state's economic momentum and the opportunities ahead. He emphasized that while Alabama is experiencing significant growth, long-term success will depend on how effectively we prepare and engage the next generation of the workforce. Highlighting the state's "Working for Alabama" initiatives, Reed spoke to the importance of connecting education with career pathways and ensuring students are aware of the wide range of high-wage, high-demand careers available right here in Alabama.
Through the support of Education Sponsor Warren Averett, the Chamber welcomed students and faculty from Snook Christian Academy and Elberta High School to the event. This vital sponsorship enables the Chamber to host students and faculty from Snook Christian Academy and Elberta High School at the event. This vital sponsorship enables the Chamber to host students at each Leadership Series luncheon, providing them with the invaluable opportunity to build professional connections and hear directly from influential leaders, such as Secretary Reed, about the high-wage career paths available in their home state.
Local flavor was a highlight of the program, as attendees enjoyed a meal provided by Alabama Coastal Catering. The Leadership Series continues to serve as a valuable platform for bringing together business leaders, educators, and community partners to discuss topics that impact our region's future.
The South Baldwin Chamber remains committed to connecting its members with influential leaders and meaningful conversations that drive progress. We are grateful to Secretary Greg Reed for his time, insight, and continued dedication to strengthening Alabama's workforce.
